At a young age, Teri Kallem, knew she wanted to be an Interior Designer. While living in the Chicago area, Teri researched Design Colleges across the Midwest and decided on Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa as the school where she would graduate with a BFA in Interior Design. Iowa State has an accredited Interior Design program which focuses on enhancing interior spaces to maximize occupant quality of life, increasing productivity, and protecting public health, safety and welfare.
Since College, Teri has had experiences in many avenues of the Interior Design profession, which include practicing both residential and commercial design, as well as representing interiors products to the design community. Working with and representing several manufacturer’s product lines over the years has shown Teri where to obtain the highest quality products for her clients. Having product knowledge of reputable interiors lines is a key ingredient to a successful interiors project.
One of the most notable experiences in Teri’s career was preparing for and passing the NCIDQ exam. This exam is a professional competency exam for interior design. The NCIDQ exam is recognized by all U.S. states and Canadian provinces that regulate the profession. Exam candidates who meet NCIDQ’s eligibility requirements and pass all exam sections are awarded the NCIDQ Certificate.
Teri Kallem has been active in the Iowa / Nebraska Chapter of IIDA, holding positions on the board and acting as Board President in 2005-2006.
