Scope of Services

Kallem Interior Design believes that each Interior Design project includes a scope of services that allows the interior designer to bring style and order to an interior space. While bringing style and order to these spaces, the purpose of the designer is also to enhance the quality of life for the people who live and work in them.
For Every Design project Teri Kallem, along with the input of her client, can develop a Design Services Agreement. Each Interior Design project is unique and therefore, these services may include any or all of the following tasks:

INTRODUCTORY MEETING
Before our first meeting, Teri will ask you to complete a Design Questionnaire. The Design questionnaire is a tool that Kallem Interior Design uses to help understand your style. It is most helpful if you are able to complete the Design Questionnaire and return it before the introductory meeting in your home or business. Not only does it help the client to think about the details of their project, it also helps the Designer to have some background about the clients and their space. This tool is a great time saver when it comes to the information gathering process.
Teri will meet with you in your home or business to listen to your design needs and ideas. This will also give Teri the opportunity to observe your space and lifestyle / business style.
This meeting will give the client the opportunity to ask about the designer’s credentials (references, portfolio, experience), as well as get a feel for an ongoing working relationship.
During this meeting we will discuss time frames and deadlines for your project so that a working schedule can be established.
The Design Services Agreement, as well as fee structure will also be discussed at this initial meeting.
CONTRACT DEVELOPMENT
At this time, Teri can prepare a Design Services Agreement, as well as a project schedule for your review and sign-off. Design services will begin at this time.
PROGRAMMING
At this stage it is necessary to evaluate existing conditions and how they relate to the client’s needs. This will be done through photographs, site measuring to document the exiting space, or existing floor plans. Existing furnishings to be used in the design plan will be documented also.
This will be the time for Teri to Identify and analyze the client’s needs and goals, assess project resources and limitations and develop preliminary budgets. Coordination with consultants in other specialties required for the project will also be contacted during this phase.
SCHEMATIC / CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
Teri will evaluate the information gathered to this point to determine the most effective use of space and the most effective use of budget for your project. She will then prepare, for your discussion and approval, preliminary plans and design concepts including selections and alternate solutions for furnishings, fixtures, and millwork; window, wall, flooring and ceiling treatments; color, finishes and hardware. Upon your approval of these design concepts, we will move forward to final design development.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
In Design Development, the final style and character of the space are established. Final floor plans and specifications for furnishings and fixtures, custom millwork and hardware, lighting and electrical will be presented for your final approval. Art and accessories and graphics and signage will be selected. Budgets will be finalized. Presentation for the final design may include drawings or sketches, renderings, color and material boards or photographs.
CONTRACT DOCUMENTS
Teri will prepare and provide detailed specifications to communicate each design element to contractors, workrooms and vendors involved in your project. If a bid situation is necessary, Teri can prepare bid documents, collect and review bids and assist in awarding contracts.
Site visits may be needed to monitor the progress of contractors and suppliers. Teri will also oversee, on her client’s behalf, the installation of furnishings, fixtures and equipment.
A punch list will be developed, if necessary. Upon punch list corrections, final inspection by the designer and final approval by the client, final billing and documentation will be presented.
PRODUCT PURCHASING
Kallem Interior Design has access to design studios and wholesale trade only showrooms that sell only to the design trade professional. These studios and showrooms offer merchandise at a discount that can be purchased by Kallem Interior Design and sold to clients often at less than retail price. If this route is to be pursued in purchasing materials or furnishings, Kallem Interior Design requires a sign off on all custom orders and a down payment required by the showroom, at the time of order
